FeedLens Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy outlines data handling practices for the FeedLens browser extension, covering feed discovery, preview, and local preference management.

1. Page and Feed Data

FeedLens reads page URLs, main-page response content types, and feed links advertised by websites to discover RSS, Atom, XML, and OPML sources. It fetches and parses a feed's text, metadata, entries, and links to display the preview. Discovered feed and response-type information is kept in extension memory for the relevant browser tab and cleared when the tab navigates or closes. FeedLens has no user accounts or subscription synchronization service.

2. Network Requests and Other Providers

Previewing a remote feed requests that feed from its host. The preview fetch uses credentials: "omit"; this does not make the connection anonymous. The destination receives ordinary connection information such as your IP address. Displayed remote images may also contact their hosts. Opening an original article contacts that website. Choosing a third-party subscription reader, including a custom reader, sends the feed URL to the selected provider, whose own privacy policy applies. Avoid sharing a private feed URL containing a token with a provider you do not trust.

3. Local Storage and Clipboard

FeedLens uses browser localStorage to remember clicked OPML feed cards (including their feed URLs) and a custom subscription-reader URL template. These values persist until cleared. FeedLens does not implement cloud synchronization for these settings. Clicking Copy writes the selected feed URL to your clipboard; the feature does not require reading other clipboard content.

4. Permissions and Your Choices

Tab, webRequest, and website-access permissions support feed detection and opening previews. Local file preview requires the browser's optional Allow access to file URLs setting and reads the file you open for preview. You can manage site and file permissions, disable the extension, or remove it in the browser's extension settings. Browser storage controls can clear stored FeedLens preferences and OPML markers; where a preview ran in a website context, that website's local storage may need to be cleared separately.

5. Support, Retention, and Changes

If you email support, your email address, message, and any attachments you send are handled to respond to your request. Send only information needed to explain the problem. Contact support@yybit.cn for questions or requests concerning support information you submitted. Feed previews and third-party services may have their own caches and retention practices; clearing FeedLens settings does not delete records held by those services. This policy will be updated as the product's data handling changes.
